Summer Reading Program
What is it?
The Mead Summer Reading Program promotes literacy in our community and helps kids maintain their reading skills over the summer.
The program is open to all ages, with separate categories for children, teens and adults. Sign up beginning May 1 and record your reading time from May 30-Aug. 7.
How to Join
Click below to sign up or to log in if you already have an account from last year. Children need their own library cards to participate.
You can also register and manage your account using the the Beanstack app, which is available in the App Store and on Google Play.

Children
How it Works: Participants earn rewards and become eligible for prizes for the time they read or are read to. The program is FREE and open to newborns and up.
What to Read: Choose from books, eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, magazines and newspapers from the library or home.
How to Join: Register beginning May 1 using Beanstack (or download the Beanstack app) and record your reading time starting May 30. Children need their own library card to participate.
Track Your Reading Time: Receive credit for the time you spend reading from May 30-Aug. 7 using Beanstack. Aug. 7 is the last day to record your reading time.
Rewards: Earn free books, coupons from local restaurants, event tickets and more for every five hours you read as follows -
- 5 hours - free book
- 10 hours - reward bundle
- 15 hours - free book
- 30 hours - automatic entry into our Family Fun Grand Prize drawing, featuring a free Pizza Ranch dinner + movie tickets
Prizes: For every five hours of reading, you’ll earn tickets that can be redeemed online for entries in a prize drawing of your choice (up to 6 entries). Prizes include an Amazon Fire Tablet, Instax Camera, LEGO sets, Dog Man series set and more.

Teens
How it Works: Track the hours you read or listen to books and become eligible for prizes along the way. The program is FREE.
Who is Eligible: Students entering grades 6-12 this fall.
What to Read: Books, audiobooks and graphic novels.
How to Join: Register beginning May 1 using Beanstack (or download the Beanstack app) and record your reading time starting May 30. A library card is required to participate. SASD students can also use their Virtual Library Cards.
Track Your Reading Time: Receive credit for the time you spend reading from May 30-Aug. 7 using Beanstack. Aug. 7 is the last day to record your reading time.
Prizes: For every 5 hours of reading, you’ll earn tickets that can be redeemed online for entries in a prize drawing of your choice. Read up to 30 hours over summer to have your name entered 6 times.
Prizes include a Nintendo OLED Switch, Kindle Fire HD, Xbox Series S and an LCD HDTV.

Adults
How it Works: Track the hours you read or listen to books and become eligible for prizes. Program is FREE.
What to Read: Choose from books, eBooks, audiobooks and graphic novels.
