Friends of Mead Public Library Bookstore

Picture of book store

The Friend's Bookstore, located right inside the front entrance, is now one of the attractions drawing patrons to Mead Public Library! Changes in collections are constantly being made which means every week there are new and different things to see. Prices range from 10 and 25 cents for magazines and $0.25 to $2.00 for books. Special books such as coffee table and gift books are a little more, but they are in such good condition they are worth the price. Payment is EASY! The donation box located right at the front of the store is available not only for donations, but payment for purchases may be put into the provided envelopes and placed in the donation box even when the Bookstore isn't staffed. We look forward to seeing you here!

History and Operation of the FMPL BookStore – It was always a dream of the Friends of Mead Public Library to one day run a bookstore within the library. We opened in June of 2004 and since then we have seen a steady increase in "browsers" as well as sales. Total annual sales now are over $10,000 and all monies raised go directly into the Friends of Mead treasury, which then in turn directly benefits programming, special events, and other areas of the library.

Location and Hours of Bookstore - The BookStore is located right past the book return when you enter the library. You can't miss us!. There is a large banner hanging from the ceiling telling you where the BookStore is. The BookStore is open for sales every single hour that the Library is open. We try to staff the BookStore as often as we can, but when we are unable to do so, there is a box conveniently located at the entrance where you can pay. We trust our shoppers!

Donations - The Friends of Mead Public Library gratefully accept any donations of "gently used books," magazines, videos, tapes, CD’s, or DVD’s. The materials can be dropped off in a box located in the BookStore. For large donations (bigger than one full box) we ask that you call ahead. Certain items with local history significance are especially welcome. More information on the types of items we accept as donations is available here.

BookStore Volunteer Opportunities – Any member of the Friends may volunteer to help out with the Bookstore. If you are not already a member, it very easy to join the Friends of Mead Public Library. We need Friends to maintain the inventory of the BookStore, to work at book sales book sales held in the bookstore and in October in the Rocca Room. The next sale in the Rocca Room will be Oct. 26, 27, and 28.

How to Contact Us – You can contact the Friends library liaison at 459-3400, Ext. 3411. Leave a message and someone will get in contact with you as soon as they can. Or if you happen to be in the Library, definitely check out the BookStore and if you see anyone working there, talk to us!
