Mead Library is accessible to the handicapped. We offer large-print books, descriptive videos, home delivery, talking book service, books on CD, downloadable e-books and audiobooks, and print enlargers.
We also offer many Internet-based services that may be helpful to disabled people. These include e-mail reference (use the "contact us" form at the bottom of this page), e-books, catalog and account access online, and databases that are accessible from home computers.
On request, our programs may include special accommodations, for example, sign language interpreting service. Requests must be made at least seven business days in advance of the program. To request an interpreter, please e-mail to email@example.com.
Persons with disabilities who need other accommodations should call 459-3400, ext. 3411, at least 3 weekdays in advance.
The library has a wheelchair and three wheeled walkers for use within the building.
The library's Rocca Meeting Room also has an "induction loop" system which magnetically transmit sound to hearing aids and cochlear implants withtelecoils (T-coils). The assistive listening device installation was partly funded by a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant.
For more information about disability access at Mead Library, call 459-3400, ext. 3411 or 3414, or send a note via e-mail.
Home Delivery Service
Do you enjoy books, music, movies or magazines? Do you or someone you know need Mead Public Library’s Home Delivery Service?
Home Delivery Service is available to City of Sheboygan residents with long-term physical mobility impairment who are unable to visit the library and who need special accommodation in order to select and check out library materials. (Because Mead provides special collections to nursing homes, those residents aren’t eligible for Home Delivery Service.)
A Mead Public Library staff member calls Home Delivery Service customers to discuss what library items they would like to receive. Participants may request books, large-print books, magazines, music CDs, DVDs, books on tape and books on CD. Specific items may be requested as well.
You can enhance your life through the many materials available from Mead Public Library. Learn a craft, enjoy a mystery, find new recipes, or be an armchair traveler!
For more information, or to request delivery services, call 459-3400, ext. 3422 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
