Program Description
Event Details
Drop into this monthly open studio time dedicated to working on, talking about, and looking at 'zines. Zines, short for "magazine", or fanzine, is a DIY self-publishing subculture, usually made on paper and reproduced with a photocopier or printer. Zine creators are often motivated by a desire to share knowledge or experience with people around them, often those in marginalized communities. Our motivation is to provide a welcoming space for collaborative and independent work in the way of zines.
Each month we'll have a planned project that people can engage in, or choose to work independently.
June 6: Coloring Book Zines
Learn how to make your own simple coloring book with hand-drawn patterns and stencils. Or, decorate an existing zine for an afternoon of coloring fun!
July 4: CLOSED FOR HOLIDAY
August 1: Collage Zines
Transform printed ephemera into an eclectic, one-of-a-kind zine. Tell a story through collage or devise a collection of eye-catching images to flip through. We'll provide old magazines, paper scraps, newspapers and more.
