Pennycandy Workshop: Unbinding Language, a Generative Writing Activity

Hark! This workshop is for those with eyes to see the magic in their every day! Join poet and designer Aunty of the Pennycandybuildingco in an exploration of spontaneous creativity through zine-making. Participants will be guided through a generative writing workshop, where they will use writing prompts and obscure found media to craft new poems and collage them into hyper-personal zines that they can take home and admire. Ages 15+

Bio:

Aunty (they/them) is a poet and graphic designer based in Chicago, IL. As an avid supporter of their creative community, they are always in the midst of creating and engaging in projects that seek to uplift and inspire both new and established artists. On top of their own creative endeavor—the pennycandybuildingco (PBCo), a project seeking to create open and affordable avenues for creative engagement—they are also a member of the exhibition team of Comfort Station, a long-standing bastion of free arts programming in Chicago. If you like to read any of their writings, you can find their work in Fruit Slice, the upcoming Unwoven Literary Magazine, or their two self-published works, Sisyphan and the Opinion Reader.

To see their works, you can check out @treoncalhoun or @pbco.mpany on Instagram!
