 February 2026 - Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday

The Patriots of the American Revolution: Legacies in Wisconsin, a traveling exhibit, will be on display at Mead Library in February 2026. The exhibit is sponsored by the Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution (WSDAR) and Plymouth Chapter, DAR. The Commemorative Flags of the American Revolution and early US History display are sponsored by the Wisconsin Sons of the American Revolution.

The pop-up exhibit was created by the WSDAR America 250! Committee and is on loan to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday anniversary. It includes display panels and an interactive digital kiosk that utilizes storytelling, illustration, and technology. Additionally, featured stories will connect audiences with the people and places that shaped the story of settlement in Sheboygan County by American Patriots and their Descendants.

The historic traveling exhibit and flags display will be located on the second floor of the library and is free and open to the public. Thematic displays spotlighting pioneer and early settlement life in Sheboygan County will be showcased in displays on first and second floors.

The exhibit will run from Saturday, February 7th through Saturday, February 28th, at Mead Library, 710 N 8th Street, during library hours. For additional details, visit the Mead Library website meadpl.org or Facebook.com/PlymouthWIDAR. Information can also be requested through PlymouthChapterDAR@gmail.com.

To kick off the exhibit on February 7th, Katie Reilly, lead researcher at the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, will give a presentation on “Patriots of the American Revolution: Legacies in Wisconsin – The Sheboygan County Story.” A Color Guard from the Wisconsin Sons of the American Revolution will open the program.  The program will begin at 1:00 pm in the Rocca Room.

In addition to the February 7th event, on February 16th there will be a children’s program, February 17th a genealogy program on finding your Revolutionary Ancestor, and on February 28th a family event featuring historical American flags, early American stories, music and games. Check the Mead Library calendar for more information and times.
