Stories, Songs, and Stretches!® envisions an entire generation of mindful kids who are school-ready in body, heart, and mind. The program is held in the Story Garden on the third floor of the Library.
This storytime program, most appropriate for ages 3-5+, engages your child in embodied play that encourages the development of early literacy, social-emotional, executive functioning, and physical literacy skills by using yoga shapes to move through stories and songs. Adult participation in the program is highly encouraged.
*This is not a yoga class for children, rather we use yoga shapes to inspire movement. You do not need to have any prior experience or knowledge of yoga to participate; you don't even need to be flexible. Our goal is to have fun and inspire learning through play. You are your child's first teacher and they will model your behavior; your participation will ensure an engaging and meaningful experience.
Yoga mats will be provided for both adult and child, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please register each child individually and also note on the registration form if you will be bringing your own yoga mats.
- Masks are required at all programs held inside the library, regardless of vaccination status. Program will be held outdoors on The City Green as long as weather allows.
