DESCRIPTION:Join the Sheboygan County LGBTQ Alliance for a book discussio
n series brought to you in partnership with Mead Library highlighting the
diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Each month a different book covering
a unique perspective on the queer experience will prompt deep, thought-pro
voking, and inspiring conversations for people who identify as LGBTQIA+ an
d straight allies alike. And if you don't know how you identify, but
have a good faith desire to learn with curiosity and humility- we welcome
you too. Join us for this facilitated book club that celebrates and explor
es queer life, love, and liberation. Books and discussions in this club m
ay contain mature themes and language. \r\nHere's the Summer/Fall li
neup. Click the book titles to see a brief description:\r\nJune 2: The Sec
ret to Superhuman Strength (2021) by Alison Bechdel\r\nJuly 7: Pet (2019)
by Awkaeke Emizi\r\nAugust 4: The Art of Fielding (2011) by Chad Harbach\r
\nSeptember 1: The One You Want to Marry (And Other Identities I've H
ad): A Memoir (2021) by Sophie Santos\r\nOctober 6: More Happy Than Not (2
015) by Adam Silvera\r\nPart Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, part A
ristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Adam Silvera&#039
;s extraordinary debut confronts race, class, and sexuality during one cha
rged near-future summer in the Bronx.\r\nSixteen-year-old Aaron Soto is st
ruggling to find happiness after a family tragedy leaves him reeling. He&#
039;s slowly remembering what happiness might feel like this summer with t
he support of his girlfriend Genevieve, but it's his new best friend,
Thomas, who really gets Aaron to open up about his past and confront his
future.\r\nAs Thomas and Aaron get closer, Aaron discovers things about hi
mself that threaten to shatter his newfound contentment. A revolutionary m
emory-alteration procedure, courtesy of the Leteo Institute, might be the
way to straighten himself out. But what if it means forgetting who he trul
y is?\r\nNovember 3: Gender Queer: A Memoir (2019) by Maia Kobabe\r\nEach
title is available at the first floor desk of Mead Library one month in ad
vance of discussion.\r\n
